Awolesi Mathew Olayinka popularly known and referred to as “Bozon” or”B-L-F was born on November 29th, 1987 in the city of Bariga, Lagos state (the 6th out of 7children of Mr&Mrs Awolesi).
He’s currently the founder of the Footprint, Director and co-founder of the Living Epistles dance and drama group, and a founding partner of x-trim entertainment club, among many others.
He started his education from ‘Ogooluwa Primary school, Gbagada, Lagos State, where he obtained his first school leaving certificate, he obtained junior high school certificate (JSSCE) at Gbagada comprehensive school, also his senior secondary certificate (SSCE) at Gbagada senior grammar school. He got admitted into Gateway (ICT) Polytechnic Saapade, where he studied for computer science
He was known to his friends and coursemate as a students’ activist, his greatest desire is justice and love, hating injustice with passion give him a space in the heart of the students
Due to his undying passion of love for humanity, he was appointed as the president of x-trim entertainment club, the group which was established for growing and appreciating young and raw talent in acting, dancing, singing, comedy among others. The group started making exploit and was highly recognized and appreciated by the school management and Ijebu Remo as a whole under his leadership. His passion for the youth-led him alongside with Ozor Uche to co-found the Living Epistles dance and drama group in the Redeemed Christian church of God, City of Comfort, Ode Remo.
Before he concluded his ND, he and few others were selected as the students’ representative (SRC), he got himself a reputation for been the first and only student to have hosted seminars, programs, shows, talent hunts at the Redeem Christian church of God city of comfort annual drama night.
His passion for justice and liberation of souls grow intensively that he was ready to lay his life at any cost for others, he was begged by his course mate to represent them at the union level, being the gentle type, he wishes not to be known or praise, but his heart for justice and the happening of injustice against his fellow students was a great burden that he could not just resist. He eventually became the students’ Speaker (first elected).
He encounters a series of challenges during his few days in office as the speaker, his integrity was threatened at all levels, and his life was at risk. He was among enemies, sleeping and eating without being fearful of what may happen next, even when his aware that most of them were against him for not been favorable at his judgment against the students’ executive which many happen to be his close friends. He stood his ground for justice, integrity, and dignity without given a second taught to what may happen for not compromising his faith and believe for justice. At a point he was left alone thinking he will compromise his faith, yet he became more aggressive against injustice and victimization of others, he was stronger at the stages of challenges and all through.
He was able to produce with his members the students’ constitution (first of its kind). He investigates the students’ executive council of the SUG and frees the students from all oppression on every side to make schooling better, enjoyable, comfortable, and learning speed-up. He and his eleven chamber parliamentarians spread the school name abroad both far and near, visiting sister schools, attending summits, and constantly reporting back to the Ogun State house of assembly for better improvement of the standard of education in the school. He was able to strike balance between the management and the students, with other hidden benefits which many are enjoying today as students of the great citadel of learning (Gateway ICT Polytechnic Saapade). His integrity also got him a voice at the Statehouse and also in the governors’ office, even till date he is still one of the first three students to be called upon when there is an issue (s) between the students and the management, and the issue (s) is considered solve
During his final days in office, he made sure that all students’ due as received by the union were properly accounted for, with accurate reports for better disciplinary actions as necessary and expected. He voted for a successor, handed over the mantle, and prepare for his journey ahead.
Awolesi has been a talented speaker on human rights and award winner on individual growth and development (2012), Best Student Activist of the Year (2015), and Most Outspoken Student (2015) and many other awards and recognition.
He’s a friend, a disciplinarian, a person who sees only the best in you when other spites you, he shelters those in search of a place to rest their head and feed many, accommodating and tolerating. He gets angry only when necessary and never fights. He is a proud father to Awolesi Joseph Oluwatimilehin (Pa Joseph as he’s fondly called) Thou he hates praises and popular notice, yet his person is in high esteem in the history of students union activist both at schools and at the State level. He is indeed an icon, a hero, a living legend, and a true talent of talents.
